Having your student move to a new city can be stressful. Figuring out where your student will live will mean thinking about location, safety, distance from campus, and the logistics of the application process. Luckily, UC Santa Cruz has a multitude of resources to help utilize when searching for housing.
On-Campus Housing

UC Santa Cruz Housing - Living on campus provides students with the opportunity to interact in an academic environment and enhance their education by taking advantage of the support provided by the university. Review resources for parents/guardians on housing.
Off-Campus Housing
- If your student is looking to rent off-campus housing, you can help them prepare. Review these tips when preparing to rent in the City of Santa Cruz or a surrounding community. Also included on this website is information about completing a rental application, when to look for housing, a checklist for off-campus housing searches, avoiding rental scams, questions to ask renters, choosing housemates, and more.

- Places4Students - Contains current off-campus housing opportunities available to UC Santa Cruz affiliates, including rental listings as well as profiles of prospective roomates/those who are looking for off-campus housing.
- Renters Workshop - A free online training to learn your rights and responsibilities as a tenant and receive a Certificate of Completion to show landlords you are a knowledgeable prospective tenant. Note, your student must be a UC Santa Cruz student and have an "@ucsc.edu" email address (CruzID) to access the workshop.
