    Provides online resources to prepare for the non-academic job market.
  • Professional Communications Certificate Program
    This program launched and supported by the Division of Graduate Studies, focuses on how to communicate effectively, use technology tools to enhance communication, improve job prospects, and to enhance your network. Through the certificate series, graduate students participate in a variety of workshops including “How to Create a Professional Website,” “Curriculum Vitae Writing, Converting Resume to CV,” and “Public Speaking.” The UC Santa Cruz Academic Senate Graduate Council has reviewed and approved the program, and completion of the program is recorded as an official credential on your transcript.
  • Graduate Student Leadership Certificate Program
    This program focuses on leadership theory, practical skills, and other leadership related topics. 
  • Graduate Student Commons (GSC)
    Is a student lead organization that manages a place for graduat students to work, meet with others, but also holds annual events, including workshops. “Like” the GSC on Facebook and review their calendar of events.

Dissertation Writing Resources

  • Defend & Publish
    This online resource offers writing webinars for graduate students. The Division of Graduate Studies has launched a partnership with D&P to provide limited 1:1 writing coaching, along with other dissertation writing resources.
  • PhD+
    This workshop series covers a range of topics from academic publishing to career paths to future university teaching.
